News Brief: Power drills buzzed, hammers pounded and fresh paint was being applied Friday morning as workers feverishly moved to complete the initial phase of a $100 million expansion of Ameristar Casino in time for the 6 p.m. opening.

Convenient covered parking ushering guests directly to the casino floor, more than 500 gaming positions and the market's largest live poker room will open to guests at Ameristar Casino Vicksburg on Friday, May 23 at 6 p.m.
