Curaçao Lotteries
The National Lottery is regulated through the National Ordinance on the National Lottery 1949 (Landsloterijverordening 1949, PB 1965, no. 122, z.g.) and its bylaws and regulations.
The Landsloterij, the official operator of the national lottery, is a Public Law Entity that falls under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Finance. The bi-weekly drawings are overseen by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The Netherlands Antilles began operation of local lotteries in 1909 under permits issued by the governor of Curaçao. In 1949, the state-owned company Landsloterij began operating a national lottery under the regulation of the Ministry of Finance.
The modern lottery operates bi-weekly drawings through tickets sold at retailers across the Antilles including Curaçao and Aruba. Revenues from the lottery support a variety of socioeconomic and cultural organizations in the country.
