Indiana's online and retail sportsbooks closed the year with another busy month, producing more than $25 million in revenue on more than $460 million in wagering in December.

Online and retail sportsbooks combined to draw $215.6 million in bets in August, which is up 27.6% from $169.0 million in August 2020 and up 10.9% from $194.5 million in July.

Online and retail sportsbooks accepted $246.3 million in wagers in June, down 3.2% from May, but despite the drop, average betting volume remained at $8.2 million per day.

Bettors placed $254.4 million in wagers in May at Indiana's retail and online sportsbooks, according to official reporting released Friday. That is up 7.6% from $236.4 million in April.

Once the app goes live on Tuesday, Indiana will become the company’s fourth online sports betting market, following previously launches in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Illinois.

As the sports scheduled thinned, Indiana sportsbooks collected $236.4 million in wagers in April, with online betting accounting for 88.4% of the handle.

Indiana sportsbooks brought in $316.7 million in wagers in March, according to official reporting released Monday. That is the second-most for a month in Indiana and up 15.6% from $273.9 million in February.

Indiana sportsbooks generated $273.9 million in February wagers. That is up 46.3% from $187.2 million in February 2020 but well short of the record $348.2 million set in January.

Indiana sportsbooks opened 2021 with another impressive month, setting the state's wagering record for the fifth consecutive month with nearly $350 million and posting a new high in revenue.

In a month that resembled a normal sports schedule more than any month since the pandemic began, October's handle was more than $230 million, a sign that Indiana's recent gains are sustainable.

Indiana sportsbooks surpassed $200 million in bets in a single month for the first time, producing record operator revenue, and passing $100 million in combined revenue since launching in September 2019.

Even with just eight days of major sports, sports bettors wagered $70.9 million in July, up 137.9% from the $29.8 million sportsbooks accepted in June and sending the state’s lifetime handle past $1 billion.

June’s $29.8 million handle was shy by $145 million of what would have been expected with a full menu of summer sports, according to PlayIndiana estimates.

The latest reopenings are scheduled for today at the company’s three Illinois casinos as well as its Prairie State Gaming video gaming terminal operations throughout Illinois.

Penn National Gaming today announced that 30 of its 41 gaming and racing properties have resumed operations.

The Indiana property will reopen on Monday, 15 June with new safety measures in place.

While the sports world moves closer to reopening, the shut down could have more long-ranging effects on Indiana as neighboring states rush to open up sports betting to shore their budgets.

With a minimized schedule of sports to bet on and casinos closed for the entire month, Indiana generated just $26.3 million in wagers, according to official reporting released today.

The state’s retail and online sportsbooks collected just $74.8 million in March wagers, down 60% from the record $187.2 million in February.

Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg and Ameristar East Chicago will close for a period of two weeks beginning 16 March.
