The Michigan Gaming Control Board cancelled live horse races scheduled at Northville Downs on Friday, 26 January due to overly wet and muddy track conditions caused by recent rainy weather and melting snow.

The last horse racing track in Michigan will soon cease operations at its current location after 80 years of providing entertainment to horse racing enthusiasts. The final race is scheduled to take place on 3 February.

Live Standardbred horse racing authorized by the Michigan Gaming Control Board begins at Northville Downs on Saturday, 12 March.

In an Executive Order issued 27 October, the Michigan Gaming Control Board granted Northville Downs authorization to host races and simulcast those races in 2022.

Sports bettors in Michigan now can place bets on live and simulcast pari-mutuel horse races using mobile wagering through Churchill Downs Technology Initiatives Co. under an order issued Thursday by Michigan Gaming Control Executive Director Richard S. Kalm.

A bettor can create an account with the third-party facilitator and can use a mobile device or computer to place wagers on pari-mutuel races using the money on deposit.
