Delaware Lotteries

The Delaware Lottery was established in 1974 and began selling lottery tickets in 1975.

With passage of the video lottery bill in 1994, VLTs were offered at Delaware's racetracks and in 2009 a sports lottery was introduced.

In 2010, Delaware started offering the multi-state Mega Millions game.

The Lottery is the fourth-largest source of revenue for the State of Delaware, contributing more than $4.1 billion to the state's general fund from 1975 through 2013. In fiscal year 2013, the Delaware Lottery contributed $235.3 million to the state's general fund.

In November 2013, the Lottery launched its first smartphone application, m.delottery.com, giving players access to jackpots and winning numbers at the touch of their fingertips. In 2012, the Lottery launched its social media presence on Facebook and Twitter.

The Delaware Lottery has been recognized annually since 2002 by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This award is earned by government organizations that go "beyond minimum requirements of accounting principles to prepare its comprehensive financial report (CAFR)." This award represents a significant accomplishment by the Lottery and its management.

Although regulated by the Delaware State Lottery, Casino City considers VLTs to be a casino and card room activity.
