Ghana Lotteries
The national lottery was first established by the Lotteries Act of 1958 and operated under a government monopoly until the passage of the National Weekly Lotto Amendment Law in 1989. This law allowed the state to relinquish its control of the national lottery industry in 2003. Today, the National Lottery Authority contributes funds to various socioeconomic development projects, including the Ghanaian Consolidated Fund and the Ghanaian Olympic team.
