Kansas Online Gaming

In April 2013, the Kansas Senate failed to pass a measure that would have banned online gambling in the state. The online gambling ban was part of larger bill that was designed to bring a brick-and-mortar casino to the southeastern part of the state. The proposed ban would have changed the classification of online gambling to a Class B misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of $1,000. The bill failed to pass by a vote of 24 to 15.

In May 2015, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback signed a bill into law that legalized real-money fantasy sports games in the state.

The 2018 Legislature briefly explored expanded gaming legislation, but deferred the issue for a year.

In September 2022, the Kansas Lottery announced that six online sportsbooks are approved to go live that month.
