South Dakota Tribal Gaming

South Dakota has signed gaming compacts with several Native American tribes. Starting on 1 July 2015, tribal casinos with Class III gaming compacts were allowed to extend their offerings to include keno, craps and roulette in addition to slot machines, blackjack and poker, thanks to a statewide referendum that passed 57-43. In addition to bingo, Class II gaming facilities are able to offer blackjack and poker, provided that the property offered the games before 1 May 1998.

When South Dakota voters approved a referendum on sports betting in November 2020, it also paved the way for tribal casinos to offer a range of betting products including sports betting, blackjack, poker, craps, roulette and slot machines.
