Georgia Online Gaming
In January 2026, a House committee examined the possibility of legalizing online sports betting but did not provide formal recommendations to lawmakers before the session. Daily fantasy sports sites continue to operate in Georgia under a legal gray area, as the state has not passed specific DFS legislation.
On 26 February 2016, the office of Attorney General Samuel Owens issued a statement saying that daily fantasy sports are not authorized under Georgia law.
House Bill 118 surfaced in January 2017, aiming to regulate fantasy sports, allowing websites to pay a 6% annual tax and receive licensing. Rep. Trey Kelley, one of the bill's sponsors, emphasized a need to protect consumers. However, the bill was tabled until 2018, when it was tabled again.
In January 2024, a daily fantasy sports bill failed to get through the House, but proponents were hopeful to revive its chances by hitching onto the sports betting initiative.
Though daily fantasy sports sites remain active, there is no specific legislation in effect.
