Connecticut Charitable Gaming
A law dating back to the 1970s allowed civic groups and churches to include casino-style gambling (blackjack, roulette and craps) as options for their fundraising efforts. In 1991, a failed attempt was made to repeal the law. It wasn't until 2003 that a proposal passed to ban Las Vegas nights gambling from the types of gaming allowable for charitable purposes.
