Connecticut Lotteries

The Connecticut State Lottery, a self-supporting enterprise, began operations in 1972. It offers products ranging from traditional draw games to instant tickets through a network of nearly 2,800 retailers.

Revenues from the lottery are deposited into a general fund that is used for education programs, emergency food relief, and compulsive gambling treatment and education programs.

In July 2010, the Connecticut Lottery reintroduced self-service instant ticket vending machines. Originally the machines were removed in 1999, when they came under criticism for being available to minors. The new machines have automatic shut-off switches and age verification technology to prevent use by minors.
