Maryland Online Gaming

In March 2024, Maryland's House of Delegates took a significant stride towards legalizing online casinos in the state by approving and advancing House Bill 1319, dedicated to online casino legislation, to the Senate. The proposed legislation aims to grant Marylanders the authority to determine the legalization of online casinos through a referendum scheduled for November 2024.

Though daily fantasy sports were legalized in 2012, Attorney General Brian Fosh has commented that the 2012 law should be subject to a referendum. SB 0976, if passed, will enable this.

In January 2017, Maryland's Comptroller implemented additional regulations to oversee the daily fantasy sports industry. These regulations had been officially announced in July 2016.
In 2018, Maryland’s State Lottery and Gaming Control Commission took over regulation of the fantasy sports industry in the state.
