Instant racing is an electronic combination of pari-mutuel racing and slot machines. Instant racing terminals allow players to bet on previously run races. The terminals accept cash or vouchers. Once the bet is placed, the races are replayed on the video screen. Players can choose to watch the entire race or simply see the last few seconds. Unlike slot machines or video lottery terminals, the wager goes into a pool and is paid out according to pari-mutuel standards.
